ReUse Station

ReUse Station at the U of S

My idea is a “Reuse Station” geared to the U of S student community, which will involve creating a physical space where students can “donate” and “take” common household items. By encouraging re-use of household items, less waste will be going into landfills and new students will have more affordable access to these important items.

  1. An interesting idea – although difficult to imagine in the context of COVID19, eh?
If sanitary and safety issues could be resolved, what kinds of household items do you envision getting shared? The image you have here suggests mainly kitchen items. How would the system work? Would it be like a library, where individuals check out items, and are expected to return them in good condition after a set amount of time?

  2. This formalized re-cycling is an excellent idea. Some departments within the College of Ag and Bio already re-cycle on an ad hoc basis, albeit on a small scale, including household items, course books, lab supplies, office supplies and furniture, kids’ toys, etc. Creating a central location with some guidelines would result in campus wide benefits.
